Beirut is in mourning after a huge blast shook the city on Tuesday - killing at least 78 people - followed by a massive shock wave which caused damage across the area. Houses were shaken with ceilings collapsing and glass shattered - and thousands of people were injured.

Lebanon's interior minister said initial information indicated that the explosion was caused by highly explosive material that had been confiscated and then stored at the port for a number of years.

Kareem Chehayeb is a journalist in Beirut, who had just driven past that area on Tuesday when the blast took place.
