Weymouth celebrity seal still making waves and friends in the town
A Weymouth estate agent has described his unexpected experience of swimming with a friendly seal as ‘euphoric’.
The marine mammal affectionately known as ‘Sammy’ first turned up at the town’s Greenhill beach over a month ago. Since then, the seal has taken on celebrity status, capturing the hearts of local residents, becoming popular with photographers, and even appearing on local ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ and ITV news.
Over the past week, a rota of volunteer marshals has been drawn up to take it in turns to look after Sammy’s well-being. It would also appear that love is in the air - 'Sammy' has recently found a mate who he also brings ashore for a spot of rest and sunbathing.
Ten days ago, Rob Wilson, a co-director at Wilson & Tominey Estate agents told ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Solent's Dorset Breakfast Show he had the surprise of his life when he took his daily morning dip in the sea.
