French composer Francis Poulenc wrote 'Figure Humaine' in 1943. He was inspired by the poem 'Libert茅' by Paul Eluard, copies of which were dropped over occupied France during World War Two. The first performance was by the 成人快手 Singers in London. The final movement (Libert茅) is a beautiful outpouring of emotion, conveying the hopes and struggles for freedom.
