'...we just can't row. It's impossible...'
2020 will be the year Cornish Pilot Gig rowers laid down their oars and pulled the covers over their gigs in storage.
From the moment the World Pilot Gig Championships was cancelled in May, it's been inevitable rowing is unlikely to return for some time.
Gig rowers can't do 2 metre social distancing. A gig is 32 foot (9.7m) long, with seven people including the cox.
So what does this mean for the traditional rowing that has a presence in every coastal or river community - not just in Cornwall but across the world?
Shane Sullivan is the chair of trustees at the Cornish Pilot Gigs Association (the CPGA). He's been speaking to 成人快手 Radio Cornwall's Martin Bailie.
