ELVER

ELVER illuminates a disappearing tradition from the region of the River Severn. Two interwoven fates of a creature and its captor are explored through the language of body and sound to reimagine their magical beauty.

Every year a small window of opportunity opens for a waning community of fishermen in rural Gloucestershire. Under rare conditions of a particular climate and tide, the River Severn changes direction, washing downstream a critically-endangered fish: the Elver, or baby-eel. So rare are these delicate creatures that their worth are said to outweigh that of solid gold. For hundreds of years, a fishing community has existed in the region and the yearly gold-rush is the centre of this film鈥檚 story.
