Is depression more common with LGBT teenagers?
Half of the lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans teenagers in a new British study were experiencing depression. Despite equality improving across many countries, in some stigma and bullying is still common. Another study carried out in the US showed that one in four adolescents at an inpatient unit were LGBT. Senior mental health lecturer Mathjis Luccasson from the UK's Open University co-authored the American study and spoke to Claudia Hammond.
