There is just one year to go before the opening of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Alongside the familiar competitions, five new sports will debut in 2020 - baseball, skateboarding, sport climbing, karate and surfing.

Kanoa Igarashi will be representing Japan among the first cohort of surfing Olympians. He tells Newsday that he never thought he would have the chance to compete at the games, but is setting his sights high.
