Jean and Ruth - Being Mum
Jean and Ruth were born a month apart and raised in Islington, North London and cannot remember not having each other in their lives. With Jean an only child and Ruth one of four girls, they enjoyed visiting each other鈥檚 houses for the differences they found. Despite both leaving Islington once they had children, they have remained in touch over the years and now find in their retirement they are able to see more of each other. Jean has a son and daughter, Ruth has three sons and four grandchildren. During this extract from their conversation they talk about how their own upbringing differed from how they raised their own children.
