Hong Kong's 'rights and liberty have been encroached for 22 years'

Anti-government protesters in Hong Kong have taken to the streets once again on the 22nd anniversary of the city's handover to China.

Hong Kong has seen a wave of demonstrations in the past three weeks, as protesters have demanded the withdrawal of a bill that would allow extraditions to the Chinese mainland.

Hong Kong has been part of China since 1997 under a principle known as "one country, two systems". This allows it's citizens freedoms not seen on the mainland, including judicial independence.

Nathan Law, together with Joshua Wong, was one of the student leaders of the Umbrella protest movement in 2014. He spoke to Newsday's Alan Kasujja ahead of taking part in the latest demonstrations.
