The issue of mental health is of increasing prevalence in the public sphere. The outgoing Prime Minister, Theresa May even made mention of her efforts to raise awareness of the issue in her resignation speech. Most workplaces, schools and other facilities are putting their weight behind developing wellbeing policies to address the matter. But whilst it is certainly on the agenda, how much further do we have to go? In part one of a special report for Good Morning Scotland, novelist, artist and playwright Rose Ruane takes a personal look at the way the language we use every day to discuss and reference mental health informs and influences attitudes.
