Stella and Rachel - Being There
Stella and Rachel met at school when they were 13 and instantly became best friends. They went onto secretarial training, and then went to the South of France to be au pairs – the first of many adventures together. While they remained close during the following years of marriage and children, they now feel that with their children grown up they have got each other back. They have been on many trips together, including a memorable one linked to Stella’s job with the RSPB, monitoring sea turtles. They came together to discuss what their friendship meant, the fear of losing each other and reminiscing about being young.
