The perils of visiting the toilet in Ancient Rome
The ancient Romans were famous for building sewers and aqueducts around their vast Empire. Most households also had their own toilet, yet many were not connected to the sewer system. Archaeologist Ann Koloski-Ostrow from Brandeis University in the USA theories as to why this might have been.
