Grasspea is a nutritious, drought-resistant and flood-tolerant crop. But when eaten in large quantities, it can be poisonous. Marnie Chesterton meets Dr. Anne Edwards and Prof. Cathie Martin of the John Innes Centre, where they are working to create a non-toxic variety of plant, so it can be grown in areas of the world threatened with climate change and food shortages.
