Mental Health and the South Asian heritage community
A new national research programme on ethnic inequalities and severe mental illness is investigating why schizophrenia is nearly three times more likely in people with a South Asian heritage compared to the majority population. It is the first of its kind and the national online survey is giving people a chance to have their say.
Kamaldeep Bhui is the Project Lead and Professor of Cultural Psychiatry at Queen Mary University of London and speaks to reporter Ruchi Tandon about the project in this interview
