Can the Northern White Rhino be saved from extinction?
With only two captive females remaining, the Northern White Rhino is functionally extinct. Now scientists have created embryos of hybrid Northern/Southern white rhinos. Jan Stejskal, Director of International Projects at Dvur Kralove Zoo, Czech Republic, and Prof Thomas Hildebrandt, who鈥檚 based at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin, explain what it would take to save the species.
