David, Douglas and Alan - Still Speaking Doric

Douglas, David and Alan are three close friends who all grew up together in the town of Stonehaven, in Northeast Scotland. Alan and David go back the longest. They were born in the same hospital, lived in the same street for a number of years, went to school together and then joined the Cubs, then Scouts, then Sea Cadets together. David and Douglas made friends at high school. Alan left Stonehaven in the late-60s, David left in the 70s and Douglas still there. They meet up in the town at least once a year, usually late Autumn, and reminisce over聽dinner, a few drinks and a stroll round their old haunts. They all speak Doric, which is a dialect of the north east of Scotland, and they all feel strongly about its preservation. Their getogethers mark a time when they can speak Doric together.
