From Olympic swimmer to coffee shop owner
A survey from the Professional Players Federation suggests half of athletes have concerns about their mental health once they retire. Many say they no longer feel in control of their lives once they call time on their sporting careers.
Fran Halsall is a former Olympic swimmer who retired in 2017 after a 10-year international career. She now co-owns a Manchester coffee shop with fellow former Olympians Jessica Varnish and Liam Phillips. She says the transition into retired life was 鈥渢ough鈥 and felt like 鈥渁 grieving process.鈥
