Glen Matlock talks about Shane MacGowan's 60th birthday concert

6 Music Breakfast hears about tonight's concert to celebrate Shane MacGowan's birthday.

A special tribute concert is taking place at the National Concert Hall in Dublin tonight in celebration of Shane MacGowan's 60th birthday.

The line-up? It's impressive to say the least: Nick Cave, Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols, Johnny Depp, Bobby Gillespie, Carl Barat, Clem Burke of Blondie, Glen Hansard and Camille O'Sullivan, Cerys Matthews and various Pogues, including Cait O'Riordan, Spider Stacey, Jem Finer and Terry Woods.

It is also fitting that Shane's musical output and legacy are being recognised - from his emergence from the London punk scene, through to his amazing back catalogue with The Pogues his solo work an collaborations, he's a one off, an incredible lyricist and a hugely passionate performer.

A lifetime of heavy drinking and drug abuse have taken its toll, but - even though he's partially wheelchair bound - it looks possible Shane himself might make an appearance. ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ 6 Music Breakfast reporter Siobhan McAndrew spoke with some of the names on tonight's bill – Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols and Irish singer songwriter Camille O'Sullivan who sang Fairytale of New York with The Pogues at a gig or two, original Pogues bassist Cait O'Riordan and starting with Glen Hansard of The Frames.
