Sri Lankan women banned again from buying alcohol
Sri Lankan president, Maithripala Sirisena, has rejected a measure that grants women the same rights as men to buy alcohol legally. Last week, the government announced it was amending a law prohibiting the sale of any type of alcohol to women. The easing of the restrictions on alcohol provoked a backlash in the predominantly Buddhist country. Campaigner Sharanya Sekaram criticised the U-turn decision and spoke to 成人快手 Newsday.
