Maja and Eleanor - Getting Help
Eleanor and Maja became friends at university in Bristol. A recovering addict, Eleanor says her mental health is contigent on not using drink or drugs. Maja, who came to the UK from Poland to study has two health issues. As a teenager she was diagnosed with chronic neutropenia - a rare blood disorder which means that her immune system is low and infections can lead to her needing to stay in hospital. She has also been diagnosed with bipolar disorder by a private specialist - which made sense to her after a lifetime of feeling different. Treatment for this is quite difficult because of the neutropenia.During their conversation they discuss their mental health, their friendship and their struggles with treatment.
