Lee Gamble: Deconstructing club music through 'sound hallucinations'
For Hear & Now's Sound of the Week feature, electronic artist and composer Lee Gamble chose not a sound from the natural world - but the sounds in his own head. A keen clubber in his teens, Lee would wake up from long nights dancing to techno and jungle music with repeated musical patterns going around his head.
In this clip Lee explains how he interpreted these 'sound hallucinations' to make records that deconstructed the club music of his youth, inspired by the practice of 'automatic writing'.
Lee Gamble's Sound of the Week featured on Hear and Now on 23 September 2017.
