成人快手 Minute: On Nigeria's education crisis - Teachers

Nigeria's government recently acknowledged for the first time that the country has the highest number of children out of school in the world. It says there are 10.5 million children not being educated. Education officials have blamed cultural factors, nomadic communities and the Boko Haram Islamist insurgency; but critics point to a lack of funding.

In this episode - Adejuwon Soyinka from 成人快手 Pidgin and Mohammed Kabir Mohammed from 成人快手 Hausa explain why teaching is a big issue. Teachers are often untrained, unpaid and overstretched. In Kaduna state, some areas reportedly have one teacher for every 100 pupils. The country's education ministry says it is committed to providing an ''inclusive and functional education system''.
