Tori Bowie on the race that changed her life
What a year it's been for Tori Bowie. She timed her dip to perfection to pip the Ivorian Marie-Josée Ta Lou on the line, falling over after victory in the 100 metres at the World Championships in London last month.
But it's been a tough journey to the top for the American sprinter. At just two years of age she was placed into foster care with her younger sister. Her grandmother won a legal battle to adopt her and brought her up. She eventually found athletics but only made her breakthrough on the track three years ago before that she was a long jumper not even reaching major Finals.
Now she has a gold medal around her neck and a street named after her in her local town of Sand Hill in Mississippi.
So what does it feel like for her to walk along Tori Bowie Lane after the race that changed her life?
