Koala rescued from car wheel arch after 10 mile drive
A koala has been released into the wild in Australia after recovering from a 16km (10-mile) car journey clinging to the axle of a four-wheel drive car. Jane Brister was one of the Adelaide Fauna Rescue volunteers involved in the koala鈥檚 rescue.
鈥淚 was aware that she鈥檇 travelled some distance, but until I got there and saw her, didn鈥檛 really comprehend the predicament she was in.鈥
She continued: 鈥淪he was wedged in quite tight behind the wheel from the side of the car all I could see was a little furry face and a paw鈥
The marsupial crawled into the wheel arch of the vehicle while it was parked in the hills near the city of Adelaide. The driver only became aware of its predicament when he stopped and heard traumatised cries. After a few days of resting and feeding in captivity, the animal was released into the forest.
