The Return of the KLF - 6 Music Breakfast was there
Matt Everitt reports on the return of the KLF in Liverpool last night
The KLF were a pop, stadium rave, subversive art project helmed by Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty during the late 80's and early 90's. They were responsible for a series of amazing, groundbreaking and massively successful singles and their surrealist and anarchist art projects - including burning a million pounds and performing at the Brit Awards with grindcore band Extreme Noise Terror.
They split in 1992 and deleted their back catalogue.
Their whole career was shrouded in mystery. This Sunday 6 Music is broadcast a special documentary about the band with insights from the people who worked with them and knew them, we'll find out just what makes The KLF so incredibly important in music history.
Journalist Jim Reid will tell us exactly what it was like being the only person other than the band and their friend to witness the burning of a million pounds, their long time press agent Mick Houghton will tell talk about being behind some of the most elaborate and significant "stunts" in modern music and Turner Prize winning artist Jeremy Deller will reveal what it was like to collaborate with them on a video project.
