More than half of people infected with HIV are now getting treatment and Aids-related deaths have almost halved since 2005, according to the UN. In Eastern and Southern Africa new HIV infections have fallen by nearly 30 percent since 2010. But in the Middle East and North Africa, and in Eastern Europe and central Asia, the number of Aids-related deaths has risen.
