$93m wasted on wrong uniforms in Afghanistan
US Special Inspector General John Sopko blames incompetence and corruption for millions being wasted in Afghanistan. It is estimated that as much as $6 trillion has been spent by the US in the reconstruction effort in Afghanistan. Much of that money has disappeared and Afghanistan is still not the place the US would like it to be.
The US Special Inspector General For Afghanistan Reconstruction, John Sopko, says that almost $93m of US taxpayers' money was spent on camouflage uniforms for the Afghan army that were unsuitable for the country - they featured a forested pattern.
