Marian and Ray - Like a Light Had Gone Out
Marian and Ray met in 1980. They started out as partners, but when that ended a firm friendship remained. They've now known each other for over 30-years and describe each other as family. They discuss Marian's stress-related 'burn-out', when the first person she turned to was Ray. She'd started to notice issues just before Christmas 2013, and after returning to work in the New Year, matters quickly escalated to a point where she felt completely unable to function and she was signed off for 4-months. The doctor described it as 'work-related stress'. It was incredibly difficult for Marian and those around her to process because she'd always been perceived as unstoppable. She didn't want to talk to or see anyone, but reached out to Ray and over the course of many phone calls and visits, he started to see Marian return to herself again. Ray is a writer and photographer and lives with his partner. Marian works for a housing company and also lives with her partner.
