‘It has become a race to face Marine le Pen’

Sophie Pedder and Edouard Filias discuss the most recent French presidential debate

The two leading candidates in the French election have traded barbs in a fiery TV debate.

Ms Le Pen said France should oppose multiculturalism, but was accused by Mr Macron of making enemies of Muslims in the country.
Recent polls suggest Ms Le Pen will get the most votes in the first round.

Sophie Pedder is the Economist's Paris Bureau Chief and Edouard Filias is a former political adviser who worked on the Sarkozy 2007 campaign and on Fillon's primary campaign.
