Aussie Rules: A league of their own
The Australian Football League premieres a professional women's division for the first time in history in February 2017.
The game has been played by women for many years, with the first known match taking part in 1915. But this change means that several hundred women have now gone from playing as amateurs to training and competing as semi-professionals.
Speaking to Sarah Mulkerrins Kara Donnellan, the Freemantle captain, explains how she used to be the "only girl playing in an all boys team" growing up, but this change will mean that young girls will now "have something to aspire to".
