Matthew Kaner is Radio 3鈥檚 Embedded Composer in 3, in partnership with the Sound and Music organisation.

Listen to the third of Matthew鈥檚 weekly commissions for 70 at 70, a series of musical and cultural commissions to mark 70 years of 成人快手 Radio 3. Inspired by Hungarian composer Gy枚rgy Kurt谩g's miniatures or short works, 'Contemplations' is a setting of 3 works by Franz Kafka: 'The Passenger', 'At Night' and 'Distracted Observation'.

Matthew chose to set them for viola and bass baritone as this combination seemed to match the 'autumnal' air of the Kafka.
