Legendary Blind 5000m Runner
Kenyan athlete Henry Wanyoike was a promising able-bodied distance runner, but in his early 20s he lost his sight overnight. It took him years to accept, but eventually he began to run again. At the Sydney Paralympic Games in 2000, Wanyoike reached the pinnacle of his sporting career, winning the 5,000 metres.
He spoke to Witness about those Paralympic Games, and the legacy he is creating for the next generation of Kenyan athletes.
