Aimee Corinne and Victoire Anne and Victoire Annielle - Ready to Start Again

Aimee discusses her 5-year separation from her 10-year old twins Anne and Annielle

Aimee is mum to 10-year old twins Anne and Annielle. They're originally from the Ivory Coast and are now based in Glasgow. Aimee and the girls were reunited in September 2014. Prior to that, they'd been separated for 5-years. Aimee went to The French University in Egypt in 2009 on a bursary to study a Masters in Project Management. She left the girls behind with her family, and expected to be reunited in 2011 upon completion of her studies. In 2011, there was a coup in Ivory Coast which made it unsafe to return. This started a long adventure for both Aimee and the girls. Their father is an Italian national. He brought the girls to Europe to keep them safe. They lived in Italy and France while Aimee stayed in the UK as part of the rules of her application for Refugee status. When it was granted, she traveled to France to collect the girls and they were all reunited again.

This conversation was recorded in The Listening Project Booth and produced in collaboration with the Poverty Truth Commission in Glasgow.
