Javaid and Shabana - Life is So Slow Now
Javaid and Shabana were both born and brought up in Kenya. They share their respective memories, including the sweet, fresh mangoes, the sound of tropical rain on rooftops and picnics in the park. They both emigrated to the UK when tensions arose towards Kenyan Asians. They met and married in Birmingham, bonding over their Kenyan backgrounds, and they now live in Glasgow. Shabana doesn't feel entirely at home in Glasgow and misses Kenya. She doesn't like the cold. Javaid is happy for now. They're still relative newlyweds and just wandered up and recorded an impromtu conversation in The Listening Project booth.
