Mrs Scaramanga's memorial stone leaves Shanklin United Reformed Church puzzled
There have been three buildings of worship on the site of the United Reformed Church in Shanklin.
The building stands at the heart of the town in the High Street and was only made possible thanks to benefactors who are commemorated with memorial stones.
But there is one stone that has left the members puzzled. It was laid by Mrs Scaramanga in 1882 at the reconstruction of the clock tower. But nothing is known about the lady, or the whereabouts of the commemorative trowel she used to cement it into place.
成人快手 Radio Solent's Neil Sackley has been delving into the history of the building with the Church's Graham Bedwell.
