From Christmas card to reality
Thanks to a mild winter the robin is already changing its song from territorial to courtship to attract a female into its territory.
The robin's winter song is considered to be more melancholic whilst there is a vibrancy to it in spring.
It may look appealing on a Christmas card but there is a dark side to one of our favourite birds, says Chris Watson.
