"I begged my president not to fire our coach because of me"
Nigerian footballer Blessing Eleke has told Sport Today that he begged the President of his club not to sack the coach who referred to the him as a 'black idiot'.
Mario Nikolic has been dismissed by Slovenian side Olympia Ljubliana for making that comment after he perceived Eleke had spent too much time celebrating a goal.
The club's president Milan Mandaric had decided not to fire the coach but he's changed his mind after the country's football federation banned Nikolic for seven games.
And Eleke told Sport Today's Steve Crossman that he did all that he could to try and keep his coach in the job.
