One of the all-time greats of American football, the quarterback Peyton Manning, is retiring. Over the course of 17 years as a professional, Manning won two Super Bowl titles, passing for more yards than anyone else in the sport.

NFL.com said the announcement would be made at a media conference on Monday, just a month after guiding the Denver Broncos to Superbowl victory.
