Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan and cricket journalist Neil Manthorpe assess South Africa's issues and the appointment Graeme Smith as a batting consultant for the Proteas.

Smith led South Africa in 108 tests before retiring last year, he has only been involved on an ad hoc basis prior to the Cape Town Test and has not signed a formal agreement.
