As part of a boost to arts, music and cultural broadcasting on the network, the World Service has brought a variety of new programming into its schedule. One programme that caught the global audience鈥檚 attention is The Cultural Frontline. Presented by Tina Daheley, the series takes an audio journey around the world in search of cultural stories that reflect the news headlines or offer reflection on certain themes. Many listeners have been sharing their thoughts on the series so far and which stories have stood out to them most. But isn鈥檛 there place for cultural stories of this kind in the regular World Service output? Rajan Datar speaks to series producer Ellie Bury about what this programme uniquely offers and whether more can be done to immerse listeners in cultural phenomenon across the world.
