Paris Climate Summit: Will Business Help or Hinder?
What role will business play at the Paris Summit? Is Ivory Coast's economic boom Africa's best-kept secret? And Lucy Kellaway on why declared corporate values should be abolished.
The Paris Climate Summit is underway - nearly 200 countries battling it out to achieve the first binding deal on carbon emissions in some two decades. So what role will business play amidst all the diplomatic wrangling? We speak to Saker Nusseibeh, chief executive of Hermes Investment Management, and to Adrian Rimmer, head of the EU's Emissions Trading Scheme, one of the world's largest carbon-trading markets, on what they expect from Paris. Also in the programme, we have a report from Abidjan on Ivory Coast's success: is this fast-growing economy Africa's best-kept secret? And Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times issues forth on corporate mission statements, and why they are actually a waste of time, and money.
