Nick Hornby, Ghostpoet, Soak, & C Duncan

Nick Hornby joins Lauren for a chat, plus sessions from Ghostpoet, Soak, & C Duncan.

At the start of another busy week of sessions and interviews we were joined by author and screenwriter, Nick Hornby, shortly after the release of the critically-acclaimed immigration drama, Brooklyn. He told us about accidentally stumbling across the archetypal music nerd with High Fidelity, why coming of age tales still work, and selling off his Black Sabbath records when he became a punk. In the build-up to the Mercury Prize announcement, Ghostpoet joined us in the 6 Music Kitchenette with tracks from his shortlisted album, Shedding Skin. He hinted at an a parallel universe in which he鈥檚 a blacksmith, discussed the importance of the studio couch, and tried to convince his label to shell out for Ray Winstone in his next music video. On Friday, we were in Maida Vale with more Mercury Prize hopefuls. Both Soak and C Duncan played music from their shortlisted records, and spoke about the exciting night ahead.
