Vanessa Redgrave performs 'lost' Shelley poem
A poem written by Percy Bysshe Shelley when he was an 18-year-old student in 1811 is going on public display in Oxford for the first time, having been acquired by the Bodleian Library, at the University of Oxford.
Actress Vanessa Redgrave, who is an admirer of Shelley鈥檚 work, performed part of the poem, that is simply called Poetical Essay. It consists of 172 lines and expresses his rage against the state of the world, war and governments' failure to prevent them.
The poem was discovered by a London book dealer in 2006 and very few people, even Shelley scholars and biographers, have ever seen it.
