Guy Garvey, John Niven, and Blackalicious

Guy Garvey & Blackalicious with live music. John Niven talks about Kill Your Friends.

Author and screenwriter John Niven dropped in to talk about new film, Kill Your Friends, adapted from his own novel about a ruthless record company exec in the glory days of Britpop. He told us about writing from experience, handling difficult questions, and being a better writer than he was an A&R man. Guy Garvey played us tunes from his first solo record, inspired by 6 Music Listeners, train journeys, and Femi Kuti's monstrous synth. Sacramento hip-hop duo, Blackalicious, are back with their first new material in ten years. They played tracks from Imani, Vol. 1 and spoke about finding creativity in difficult times. Empire Magazine's Chris Hewitt reviewed Brooklyn and the aforementioned Kill Your Friends for Friday Film Club.
