Michael Peppiatt's new biography of Francis Bacon is out this week.
"When Bacon is in your bloodstream he never leaves you", said Mr Peppiatt.
He "liked to keep people in thrall."
Michael Clark, an artist and friend of Francis Bacon, said the famous painter "pretended that he didn't care, but he did."
