Polish migrants in the UK give blood to show solidarity
A group of Polish migrants in Britain who had considered striking to show their value to the UK have decided instead to give blood.
A Polish newspaper called for Poles to go on strike but many felt this was not how they wanted to demonstrate their commitment to the country.
George Byczynski, of the British Poles Initiative says that Poles want to be seen contributing to British society and that thousands have given blood to show their contribution. He told Phil Williams that "thousands" had taken part in the blood drive on Thursday. "We don't need to strike, we will give blood instead," Byczynski said.
The group raised awareness for the campaign on Twitter using #polishblood.
