
'Medically regulated' e-cigarettes may be prescribed by the NHS
Government health officials want GPs to be able to prescribe e-cigarettes on the NHS once they are cleared by medical regulators.
Public Health England say that vaping is 95% less harmful than tobacco.
We spoke to Professor Kevin Fenton, national spokesperson for Public Health England.
"We want to ensure we have safe and high quality e-cigarettes", Prof Fenton told the programme.
"Ensuring that they are medically regulated will be important."
"It's the ability of having yet another effective tool in the toolkit to offer to patients", he said.
