Straight Outta Compton - the NWA influence
Straight Outta Compton, the much-awaited biopic of the LA gangsta rap group NWA, has had its world premiere in Los Angeles. NWA were pioneers of a raw, confrontational rap style that chronicled the lives of young black men in inner-city LA. Rap music historian Ben Westhoff explains the group's influence on pop culture.
