Our new weekly two-hour celebration of the Northern Soul scene begins on Saturday 8th August at 6pm 鈥� straight after coverage of the Crewe Alex v Port Vale derby match 鈥� and you can catch it every Saturday evening between 6 and 8pm 鈥� or on our 30-day listen again service at bbc.co.uk/radiostoke聽

Richard Searling was one of the resident DJs at the legendary Wigan Casino all-nighters from 1974 to 1981 and still works on the Northern Soul scene. "It's an exciting opportunity because I know how big Northern Soul and soul music in general聽is in the Stoke-on-Trent and Cheshire areas.聽I think its a great title and a great time - Saturday nights 6-8...It'll cover everything from Atlantic, Stax and Motown to rarer Northern Soul聽classics...and the non-stop oldies to bring back memories聽from Wigan Casino, The Torch and The Twisted Wheel."
