Sporting City, Magna Carta and Twycross
Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.
Its not hard to find sporting greatness when you look around Leicester. But in a new report, the City has been ranked the 18th best in the UK.
The news comes as the government launches a public consultation to find out why the number of people doing sport once a week in England is falling. The figure peaked at nearly sixteen million soon after the London Olympics -- but has now dropped by 400-thousand. Interestingly, participation is one of the areas in the research that left Leicester below areas like Doncaster, Gloucester and even Derby! Could Leicester be the true birthplace of the Magna Carta? We'll be looking into some new evidence which has just come to light. Imagine you had to feed more than 500 animals every single day, each with it's own special diet. That's the enormous task facing staff at Twycross Zoo, where they get through more than 80 tonnes of food every year. Help is now at hand though, because they've just opened a new kitchen, allowing them to prepare larger quantities of food to cope with this huge demand.
